With over 270 annual days of sunshine, The Greeley/ Weld County area is a great place to take advantage of the great outdoors. The climate is dry and generally mild, with warm summers, mild winters, and a growing season of approximately 138 days. The land surface is fairly level in the east with rolling prairies and low hills near the western border. Greeley is located approximately 60 miles northeast of Denver and 50 miles south of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Even though it is just 30 miles east of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Greeley is located in a semi-arid region.

Weld County offers an outstanding quality of life. Located within a 60-mile radius of Greeley are five major universities with never-ending cultural and athletic events. The Denver-metro area forms the county's southern boundary and the Rocky Mountains frame the horizon to the west. Greeley and Weld County have many cultural and recreational events ranging from amateur art displays to art galleries, from bands to the oldest philharmonic west of the Mississippi River, as well as drama, historical museums and a fantastic community-university lecture series sponsored by the University of Northern Colorado.
There are over 35 parks throughout the county and five public or private golf courses. Weld County is within a day's drive to two national parks, 9 national forests, and 2,000 trout lakes for outdoor recreation at its best. And of course, Ski Country USA is also within easy driving distance.
Weld County has a variety of small to medium sized towns, with Greeley being the largest community. Each city/town has its own personality and flair, from the rural towns of Grover or Briggsdale, to the newer growth centers of Fort Lupton and Windsor.
